The short version
Across all 46 models, the lowest price we track for each runs from $679 to $7,299. The typical (median) price is $1,799 and the average is $2,002. Most models sit near the middle, and a few expensive ones pull the average up. The median is the better number to plan around.
By price band:
- Under $1,000: 11 models
- $1,000 to $1,499.99: 9 models
- $1,500 to $1,999.99: 9 models
- $2,000 to $2,999.99: 13 models
- $3,000 and up: 4 models
The cheapest is the Anthbot M5 at $679. The most expensive is the Yarbo Y40 Core with Lawn Mower Pro and Trimmer Modules at $7,299. Where a model is sold in more than one shop, we use the lowest price. Every model here is listed as wire-free, so none needs a boundary wire.
Price by navigation type
| Navigation | Models | Cheapest | Median | Most expensive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RTK GPS + camera | 25 | $679 | $1,799.99 | $7,299 |
| LiDAR | 11 | $949 | $1,699.99 | $2,799.99 |
| RTK GPS + LiDAR | 6 | $999.99 | $1,599 | $2,799 |
| Camera vision | 4 | $799.99 | $1,799.99 | $2,499.99 |
RTK GPS + camera is the biggest group, with more than half of all models, and it has the widest spread. It holds both the cheapest model overall and the most expensive. Among LiDAR models, the Anthbot M5 LiDAR at $949 is the cheapest and the Dreame A3 AWD Pro 5000 at $2,799.99 is the most expensive. The cheapest RTK GPS + LiDAR model is the Ecovacs GOAT O1000 RTK, and the dearest is the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 3000. Of the camera vision models, the Sunseeker V3 is the cheapest and the Worx WR220 is the most expensive. Medians sit within about $200 of each other, so navigation type alone does not set the price. For what each type does, see RTK vs LiDAR vs camera robot mowers.
Price by lawn size
Six models, the three Ecovacs LiDAR PRO models, the two Lymow models and the Worx WR220, have no stated mowing area, so the table covers 40 models. Areas are the makers' stated figures.
| Lawn size | Models | Cheapest | Median | Most expensive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 0.25 acre | 19 | $679 | $1,099 | $1,999.99 |
| 0.26 to 0.5 acre | 9 | $999.99 | $1,699.99 | $2,299.99 |
| 0.51 to 1 acre | 6 | $899 | $2,349.99 | $2,999.99 |
| Over 1 acre | 6 | $2,799 | $4,099 | $7,299 |
The median price rises with lawn size, but not evenly. A mower rated for a half acre costs about $600 more at the median than one for a quarter acre or less. The jump to over an acre is much larger. The cheapest model over 1 acre is the Navimow X350 at $2,799, and the two Yarbo models, both rated for 6.2 acres, cost $5,999 and $7,299.
The Anthbot Genie 3000 is the outlier in the 0.51 to 1 acre band. It is rated for 0.74 acre and costs $899, far below the $2,349.99 median of its band.
Price per acre
Dividing each price by its stated area gives a rough cost per acre. Across the 40 models with an area, the median is about $4,198 per acre. Small-lawn mowers cost the most per acre, and large-lawn mowers the least:
- Up to 0.25 acre: about $5,600 per acre (median)
- 0.26 to 0.5 acre: about $3,781
- 0.51 to 1 acre: about $2,529
- Over 1 acre: about $1,833
The lowest cost per acre is the Yarbo Y40 Mower Pro at about $968, followed by the Yarbo with trimmer at about $1,177, the Anthbot Genie 3000 at about $1,215 and the Navimow X390 at about $1,800. The highest is the Anthbot M5 Pro at about $9,158. If you have a big lawn, a large model costs less per acre. If you have a small lawn, the rate per acre is higher. Do not buy a bigger model just to get a lower rate if you will never use the area.
What else to budget for
The price of the mower is not the price of the project. We do not have a sourced dollar figure for these items, so get quotes before you buy:
- Installation and setup. Some models need an antenna or base station placed with a clear view of the sky.
- A garage or shelter for the mower and its charger.
- Spare blades and other upkeep parts.
- Any paid service plan the maker offers for RTK or app features.
The installation and setup guide lists what to plan for.
How these numbers were made
Prices come from the shop pages linked on each model page. We take each model's lowest price, then compute the figures above from those 46 values.
